Secret Shakespeare Project

Project Mini-Examples & Non-Examples

Hamlet Project Non-Example

Why?
  • Direct copy of the text
  • Only change is the time period and anachronism
  • Not an original creative dramatic work -- merely taking Shakespeare's words and putting them in funny looking characters.

Hamlet Project Better Example

Why?
  • The text follows a very similar pattern to the original, but is not a word for word modernization.
  • The whole scene has changed, but there are shared situational similarities
  • The story appears original -- though uses characters who may bare resemblance to those in Hamlet -- just as Joe demonstrates here

Hamlet Project Even Better Example

Why?
  • Story and character are completely original
  • Makes use of Shakespearean devices (soliloquy)
  • Uses some of the vocabulary language of Hamlet (sterile)
  • Thematic ties to deceit, lies, and truth
